Reading and library data
Reading progress, saved books, and related book activity are stored so your library remains available across sessions and devices associated with your account.
Personal Reveals
When you request a Personal Reveal, the selected book passage and relevant story context are sent from BookReveal's backend to OpenAI so the requested image can be generated.
BookReveal may store the generated image and operational information related to the request so the Reveal can be displayed in your reading experience and the generation process can be managed reliably.
Accounts and authentication
BookReveal uses Firebase Authentication to manage accounts. Depending on the sign-in method you choose, authentication may also involve Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.
BookReveal may create an anonymous account so you can begin using the app before creating a registered account.
Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases and subscriptions are processed through the store associated with your device. BookReveal uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status, entitlements, purchase restoration, and Personal Reveal purchases.
BookReveal does not receive or store your full payment card details.
Analytics
BookReveal uses PostHog for product analytics. These analytics help us understand whether important parts of the product are working and how features are used.
Session replay and geographic IP enrichment are disabled in our current PostHog configuration. Analytics are not used for third-party advertising.
Service providers
BookReveal relies on third-party services to operate parts of the product.
- Firebase Authentication for accounts and authentication
- Apple and Google for supported sign-in methods
- RevenueCat for subscriptions, entitlements, and purchase management
- Apple App Store for iOS purchases and subscriptions
- PostHog for product analytics
- OpenAI for backend Personal Reveal image generation
- Vultr for production hosting
These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and contractual obligations.
Data retention
We retain account, library, reading progress, purchase, and Personal Reveal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide BookReveal and operate the service.
Certain limited information may be retained where necessary for security, fraud prevention, billing, accounting, legal obligations, or dispute resolution. Backup copies may remain temporarily until removed through normal backup rotation.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. Sensitive backend credentials are not stored in the mobile application, and sensitive operations are handled through BookReveal's backend services.
No method of transmission or storage can guarantee absolute security.
Account deletion
You can delete your BookReveal account from within the app. Account deletion removes your BookReveal account and associated account data from the active service, subject to information we may need to retain for legal, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Deleting your BookReveal account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription. Subscriptions must be managed through the store associated with your device.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including rights to request access, correction, or deletion, and in some cases to object to or restrict certain processing.
To make a privacy request, contact us at support@bookreveal.app.
Children
BookReveal is not intended for children under 13. Where local law requires parental or guardian consent at a higher age, that requirement applies.
International processing
BookReveal and its service providers may process information outside your country of residence. BookReveal's production infrastructure is hosted in the United States, and service providers may process information in the United States or other jurisdictions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as BookReveal changes. When the policy is materially updated, the effective date at the top of this page will also be updated.
